Babak Khoshnoud

Babak Khoshnoud was born in Tehran and grew up in San Francisco. He works as a filmmaker, creative director, photographer and designer. He began his career as an art director at various advertising agencies and design studios including world renowned design firm, IDEO. His early work as a curatorial assistant and then designer at the Harvard Art museums has rooted his practice and sensibilities in a deep affinity for fine art mirrored against the human condition.

He is best known as the co-founder and creative director of LA based studio Yours Truly which garnered attention documenting emerging and established artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Kamasi Washington, Lizzo, King Krule, Little Dragon, Chance the Rapper, Sampha, Moses Sumney, Kehlani, and many more. He’s also led multi-Webby award winning creative campaigns with brands such as adidas originals, Spotify, Apple Music, Ray-Ban, and SoundCloud recognized by publications such as The New Yorker, Wired Magazine, NPR and The New York Times. As a director he has created fiction and nonfiction projects with artists such as Miguel, FKA Twigs, Joji, James Blake, Robyn, Jack Harlow, Brent Faiyaz and countless others. He co-produced the pilot of ‘Oh Jerome, No’ for Alex Karpofsky opposite Debra Winger, Mamoudou Athie and Arturo Castro which was picked up and turned into an eight part episodic series for FX. Most recently he produced the dark comedy, ‘Dogleg’, written and directed by Alex Warren alongside executive producers, Brain Dead Studios. As a director he is in development on two feature films, the first is a scripted film ‘Osian’, based on his childhood living in a run down apartment complex in Oakland with support from Tribeca Film Institute. His second is a feature length documentary about the Iranian punk movement of the early 2000s with support from Tribeca Film Institute, A&E Labs and The Gotham Film & Media Institute.
