Chris Berdine

Chris Berdine is a Los Angeles-based creative director. His work for acclaimed artists, as well as iconic consumer brands demonstrates rare fluency across film, music, fine art, multi-disciplinary design and cutting-edge digital culture.

Berdine’s work has contributed to more Billboard No. 1 hits than any creative director. His creative strategy, branding and campaigns for musicians like Juice WRLD, Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Kanye West, Meek Mill, Zayn, and Anitta have defined the most important artists of our time at critical moments in their careers.

Rather than chase momentary virality, his campaigns distill essential truths about an artist or brand’s identity. His work can command an established fandom, reintroduce an artist to fresh crowds, or realign brand identity within popular culture. His live show and broadcast work translates that vision to Super Bowl audiences and festival-sized crowds. His subversive digital campaigns forge and deepen intense fan relationships.

Berdine understands that entertainers are brands, each requiring their own distinctive voice and rich visual world. Prioritizing brand legacy, he entices and rewards a dedicated audience well beyond a traditional promotional cycle. His visual approach is highly dynamic, traversing new and traditional media, framing his clients within the cultural vanguard.

Berdine began his career working with pioneering design firms and in-house creative teams. At American Apparel, where he served as Director of Design & Creative Services during its rise to global prominence, he oversaw one of the era’s most distinctive visual languages in fashion marketing—which continues to captivate young audiences. Borrowing from that tool kit, Berdine applies disruptive ad industry methodologies to his work for entertainers and brands. As a seasoned executive creative director, he is accountable to top-level business goals and budgets, all while ensuring cohesive creative production and deployment. He founded his firm Berdine Design, Inc. in 2010, where he continues his work today.
